I'm Innes Meek, a psychotherapist based in London. Working across a variety of issues, my approach is to engage with my clients to help address whatever it is that is preventing them from living a full, free, and engaging life.
I am UKCP accredited, a recognition that reflects extensive training, supervised clinical experience, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical practice. I am also a BACP member. I have worked in a number of clinical and private settings in London since 2020.
I trained at Regent’s University London, one of the UK’s leading centres for psychotherapy training, where I completed a Master's Degree and Postgraduate Certificate.
Since qualifying I have engaged in regular and stringent continued professional development, including courses on couples and psychosexual psychotherapy at The Relational Life Institute.
Psychotherapy provides a space for you to talk freely and openly, safe in the knowledge that you won't be judged. Innes's role is different to that of a friend, who might typically seek to tell you that "all is not as bad as it seems" but instead to explore your difficulties at your own time, whilst adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
Therapy can be a unique opportunity to take the time to explore your life to better understand who you are. Socrates said that the unexamined life is not worth living, highlighting that we can all benefit from examining ourselves.
Through understanding and exploration of who you are, psychotherapy can be utilised to facilitate change in your life. This change can manifest in many ways, including reaching an understanding of why you act or react in a certain way to particular stimuli, and learning to accept the way you are, the way you have been, and the way you will be.
People choose to come to therapy for many different reasons. Issues Innes has helped clients with include:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
Men's Issues
I work in private offices in Holborn and Shoreditch. I also sees clients online over zoom.

The short answer is that counselling is a space for people to explore current issues and to learn coping mechanisms for dealing with them whereas psychotherapy will often involve going deeper. The training levels for psychotherapists are typically higher than for counsellors, particularly if psychotherapists are to be members of governing bodies such as BACP.
Client confidentiality is a fundamental principle upon which psychotherapy depends for success. Innes is held to the highest professional standards as outlined under the BACP ethical framework.

Innes aims to respond to your enquiry within 24 hours and arrange a telephone consultation shortly thereafter. Depending on availability, and the needs of the client, a session will then be arranged at the nearest suitable time.
